After failing to make the playoffs for the first time since 2008, Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman addressed the team's disappointing season Tuesday.

This season saw multiple players, including team captain Derek Jeter, sidelined with injuries, while new additions failed to make a mark.

At a press conference Tuesday afternoon, Cashman said he believes the Bronx Bombers can return to their former glory, but said it will take significant reshuffling of the team's lineup.

"We got derailed this year by decision-making as well as injuries. They're all my responsibility," Cashman said. "And the best we could produce, unfortunately, was an 85-win team. That's not Yankee standards. That's something we will do everything within in our power to rectify."

Cashman said he will begin the scouting process for new players this Monday.

He also addressed Yankee Manager Joe Girardi's contract expiring this year, saying he hopes to keep him with the team. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
