Tennis fans anxious for the start of the U.S. Open later this month might spot the grand slam event's coveted trophies around town.

The men's and women's singles trophies are touring iconic venues throughout the city, even making a stop at NY1.

Fans are able to take photos with them and see the names of past champions up close.

"It's kind of like the Stanley Cup," said Tom Ladue of the United States Tennis Association. They want their name on this trophy to be etched on there like all of the previous champions in the past, but to get it and hoist it, that's the thing. That's your one goal, is to be the U.S. Open champion, win one of the four grand slams."

The tournament takes place at the USTA's National Tennis Center in the Flushing section of Queens from August 26 to September 9.
