The baseball players' union has reportedly been told about the suspensions planned for Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and other players linked to a Florida drug clinic.

It is a sign that announcements about A-Rod and eight other players could be imminent.

Most players are facing 50-game bans, but Rodriguez could be forced to sit longer for allegedly recruiting players to the clinic and then lying to baseball investigators.

Rodriguez has said he will try to appeal any suspension.
