A source tells NY1 that Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez could be facing a suspension of 100 games or more for violating the league's drug policy.

A source tells NY1 that Major League Baseball has far more evidence on Rodriguez than it had on Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, who was suspended Monday without pay for the rest of this season, or 65 games.

If Rodriguez's suspension is for 100 games, that would mean he would have to sit out the rest of this season and the start of the next one.

The 37-year-old three-time MVP has already missed all of the 2013 season to date following offseason hip surgery.

He was scheduled to join the Yankees this week in Texas, but suffered a quad injury while rehabbing in the minors and was sent back to Tampa for more treatment.
