Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira's season is over.
The team said Wednesday that the slugger will undergo season-ending surgery on his right wrist.
Teixeira said it will likely take place within the next week.
Recovery time is projected at six months.
The all-star was originally hurt in March while taking batting practice.
He returned to the lineup on May 31 and batted just .151 in 15 games with three home runs.
He went back on the disabled list on June 15 and did not respond to a cortisone shot.
