The New York Rangers gave up five goals Sunday in their worst defensive performance of this year's playoffs as the Boston Bruins skated off with a 5-2 win in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal matchup in Boston.
It was the most goals the Blue Shirts have given up in their nine playoffs games this season.
The loss dropped New York to 0-2 in the seven-game series.
Star winger Rick Nash scored his first playoff goal as a Ranger to knot the score at 2-2 midway through the second period, but New York failed to seize the momentum as the Bruins reeled off three straight goals for the win.
The Rangers' power play, which entered the game in a 2-for-31 funk, went 0-for-5 Sunday.
Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves for the Blue Shirts, who return to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 Tuesday night.
