Henrik Lundqvist made 45 saves Thursday night, but even he couldn't stop everything the Boston Bruins threw at him.

Boston's Brad Marchand scored 16 minutes into overtime to give the Bruins a 3-2 win in the opening game of the Rangers' Eastern Conference Semifinal playoff series Thursday night in Boston.

The Rangers' loss put the Bruins up one game to none in the best-of-seven series.

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara opened the scoring when he broke Henrik Lundqvist's 152-minute shutout streak midway through the second frame. Ryan McDonagh then tied it for New York on a point shot with only 1.3 seconds remaining in the period.

Derek Stepan then gave the Rangers the lead only 14 seconds into the third period before Boston's Torey Krug tied it on a power play three minutes later.

Game 2 of the is Sunday afternoon in Boston before the series shifts to New York for games 3 and 4.
