The Yankees announced on Twitter Thursday afternoon that team captain Derek Jeter has fractured his left ankle again and will not return to play until after the All-Star break in July.

The team posted that a CT scan on the 38-year-old shortstop's ankle revealed a small crack in the same site as his October injury.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman reportedly said that Jeter will not require further surgery on his ankle.

Jeter originally injured his ankle during the opening game of last year's American League Championship Series.

He did recover enough to play in some games during spring training.

Three other All-Star players on the Yankees lineup are currently on the disabled list: third baseman Alex Rodriguez, first baseman Mark Teixeira and outfielder Curtis Granderson. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
