Bronx-born college basketball player Kevin Ware is up and about after his crippling March Madness injury.

The Louisville guard hobbled into a press conference on crutches to talk about his experience in last Sunday's game against Duke.

Ware said he thought he simply landed badly when he went down, but when he looked at his coach, Rick Pitino, he knew it was serious.

"Coach just kind of gave my leg, like, a look, like he's never seen something like this before, so I'm just thinking, like, my ankle's hurt or something like that," Ware said. "I look down at my leg, and my bone's six inches out of my leg, and I just, I go into automatic shock."

Ware said he received encouragement from First Lady Michelle Obama and NBA superstars Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley and Kobe Bryant.

He will be with his team when they play Wichita State in the Final Four on Saturday. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
