New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony is suspended one game without pay for confronting Celtics star Kevin Garnett off the court.
Anthony said he was upset about Garnett's choice of words during a fourth quarter altercation during Monday's loss at the Garden.
After the game, Anthony approached the Celtics locker room and waited for Garnett outside his team's bus.
NBA Executive Vice President of Operations Stu Jackson said there are "no circumstances in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game."
Anthony says he was just looking to talk, not fight.
The suspension will force the Knicks forward to miss Thursday night's game against the Pacers.
