In the waning hours of 2012, talks are expected in the city between the National Hockey League and its player union, which could save some of the professional hockey season.
It is the first time the two sides will be bargaining in nearly three weeks.
The negotiations follow an NHL contract proposal presented on Thursday.
The window to save any potential hockey season is closing, as it is believed the NHL wants a shortened season to start no later than January 19.
