Mets Reportedly Reach Deal To Trade Away Dickey To Blue Jays

After yet another disappointing season for Mets fans, the team has now reportedly reached a deal to trade away R.A Dickey, its Cy Young Award-winning pitcher, to the Toronto Blue Jays.
According to reports, Dickey only needs to go through a physical, and then he and catcher Josh Thole will go to Toronto.
In return, the Mets would reportedly get a prime catching prospect, Travis d'Arnaud, a pitching prospect, Noah Syndergaard, and major league catcher John Buck.
The Mets have many holes to fill and likely felt that 38-year-old Dickey's value was at its highest.
However, Dickey was the brightest light in yet another bleak season for the Mets, most prominently for his 20-6 record, landing him the Cy Young Award.
Dickey also connected with New York in a very meaningful way, even non-sports fans, when before the 2012 season he wrote a brutally honest memoir about his life and career, including the story of how he was sexually abused as a youngster.
There is some irony that the Dickey trade is unfolding as Jeremy Lin makes his return to New York tonight.
"Linsanity" went from being a great New York story to a global phenomenon earlier this year.
The Knicks chose not to match the contract offer Lin received from the Houston Rockets this summer.
So far, it has worked out great for the Knicks, as they have the best record in the Eastern Conference.
Mets fans can only hope the Dickey trade turns out as well.
