Yankees star third baseman Alex Rodriguez could miss the entire first half of next season as he is scheduled to have surgery on his left hip.

His arthroscopic surgery is intended to address several issues, including a torn labrum and a cyst.

Recovery time for the procedure is four to six months.

Rodriguez had similar surgery on his right hip in 2009.

Doctors say the injury may have contributed to the 38-year-old's poor performance in this year's playoffs.

Rodriguez was .120 during the postseason and struck out 12 times.
