Former boxing champion Hector "Macho" Camacho, whose career started in New York City, was reportedly put on life support after he was shot in the face in Puerto Rico.

Camacho and another man were sitting in a car when at least one gunman opened fire.

The 50-year-old boxer was shot in the jaw, while the second man was killed.

A former manager told the Associated Press that Camacho's relatives were trying to decide Wednesday whether to take him off life support.

Raised in Harlem, Camacho held world titles from lightweight to junior lightweight in the 1980s.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
