As they waited to see who their Division Series opponent would be, the Yankees participated in a rare nighttime workout Friday.

The league's new wildcard rules have them playing the first two games on the road.

The 2-3 format will only be in effect this year.

Manager Joe Girardi admits it's a major change.

"Usually, when you're a division winner, you're start at home and you're starting on the road," he said. "It just seems to be, umm, just uncertain, what we're doing. I mean, there's a lot of uncertainty."

"That's the topic of discussion right now but, you know, this is a one year thing and we're gonna have to win some games on the road most likely anyway if we make it to the promised land," said Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira. "We're not gonna complain about starting the first two on the road."

Game 1 of the Division Series against the Orioles is in Baltimore on Sunday at 6 p.m.
