The start of the NHL regular season is in jeopardy as no progress was made during labor talks Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly called the discussions "not overly encouraging."
He estimated that the league has already lost $100 million in revenue with the canceled preseason.
No further talks are scheduled but the head of the Players' Association is expected to informally speak with the league commissioner Wednesday.
The season is supposed to start next Thursday.
