The October 2 exhibition match-up between the New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils at the Barclays Center is officially canceled, after the National Hockey League canceled the rest of its preseason games Thursday due to its ongoing lockout.

The lockout had previously forced the cancelation of all preseason games through September 30.

NHL officials said they will reopen talks with its players association on Friday in an effort to come to a new collective bargaining agreement.

It will be the first real discussions since the lockout began September 16.

The talks will reportedly take place in Manhattan.
