New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda was arrested Monday and charged with driving under the influence in Tampa, Florida.
Pineda, 23, was released hours after his arrest on $500 bond.
A police spokesman in Tampa told MLB.com that Pineda was seen speeding, weaving and driving without headlights around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
The officer also told the website that the pitcher's speech was slurred and his breath smelled of alcohol.
Pineda was an all-star last season with the Seattle Mariners and was the Yankees' big off-season acquisition.
He suffered a season-ending shoulder injury during spring training and has yet to pitch for the Bronx Bombers.
