Mets starter Dillon Gee was hospitalized Wednesday after a blood clot was discovered in his throwing shoulder.
The team said he underwent surgery to remove the clot.
Gee pitched 8 innings Saturday in a win over the Cubs but the 26-year-old complained of numb fingers on his right hand the next day.
The Mets said he will miss his next start.
Gee, who is 6-7 in 2012, will remain hospitalized for a day or two to make sure the problem is fully resolved.
