The day baseball fans wait for all winter is almost here, as the New York Mets play the Atlanta Braves in their opening game in Citi Field on Thursday afternoon.
The Amazins will send ace Johan Santana to the mound against Tommy Hanson.
The Mets have had three straight losing seasons and have not made the playoffs since 2006.
The return of Santana, who had shoulder surgery and missed all of last year, has given them some hope for 2012.
The Yankees open Friday in Tampa.
NY1 will have reports from Citi Field beginning Thursday morning.
