Jury selection begins Monday in the multimillion-dollar federal trial of Fred Wilpon and Saul Katz, the owners of the New York Mets.

Irving Picard, the trustee overseeing the recovery of money for victims of the Ponzi scheme run by convicted swindler Bernard Madoff, sued the team's owners.

Picard contends Wilpon and Katz intentionally ignored red flags of Madoff's scheme and knowingly profited from it.

Earlier this month, a judge ruled that the cash-strapped Mets have to return $83 million, but Picard wants to get up to $300 million more.

A lawyer for the owners said the clients are innocent of the charge of being wilfully blind to Madoff's scheme.
