The New York Giants may be getting all the football attention this weekend, but a former New York Jet grabbed some headlines as well.
Longtime running back Curtis Martin was one of six players elected on Saturday to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Martin is the league's fourth-leading all-time rusher with more than 14,000 yards.
The five-time Pro Bowler began his career in 1995 with the New England Patriots before coming to Gang Green in 1998.
He spent eight years with the Jets before retiring after the 2005 season.
Former Giants and Jets coach Bill Parcells came up short in the final voting despite leading Big Blue to its first two Super Bowl titles.
Martin said he was disappointed Parcells did not get selected.
"If I could, I would willingly in a heartbeat forsake my chance of getting inducted this year if it would guarantee that Parcells would get inducted. Parcells has meant everything to my career. You know, there's God and then there's Parcells," said Martin.
Dermontti Dawson, Chris Doleman, Cortez Kennedy, Willie Roaf and Jack Butler were also voted into the hall of fame.
The induction ceremony will take place in Canton, Ohio in August.
