Giants fans who gathered Sunday in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium celebrated the team's convincing wildcard playoff win over Atlanta. NY1's Jon Weinstein filed the following report.

Tailgating is an art form for football fans. And after missing the playoffs the last two years, Giants fans were out in force early for their Wild Card match-up with the Atlanta Falcons.

"If you polled everybody out here, you know, we feel as fans that if they put as much effort into their planning as we do into our planning for the tailgating and getting here should be good. They're ripe, they're ready, and we're excited," said one Giants fan.

After a slow start, Giants fans were rewarded for their pregame optimism and enthusiasm. Big Blue's defense was dominant: Eli Manning and Hakeem Nicks connected for two touchdowns and the G-Men rolled to a 24-2 win.

"Giants ran the ball, they threw the ball, they had great defense, one the best games we ever saw," said one Giants fan.

"We got some offense get going on, defense pulled up big and stopped the Falcons great," said another.

Every fan, nearly 80,000 in total, got a "rally" towel and there's no doubt the crowd noise rattled the Falcons' offense and aided the Giants victory.

"It was loud. I mean, I have season tickets, I'm there all the time and it was the loudest I've ever seen. It was unbelievable," said one Giants fan.

"We had the towels going, we were waving 'em, we were all into it, we were going nuts, everybody was all amped up. Go Giants!" shouted another fan.

The next step is the divisional round against the 15-1 Green Bay Packers. But the Giants' recent playoff history in Green Bay has fans feeling good. The G-men upset the top-seeded Packers in Lambeau Field on their way to winning the Super Bowl four years ago.

Some fans even have novel ideas about how to support the Giants.

"We're going to boycott cheese for one week in reference to the Giants beating Green Bay," said one fan. "Nobody in the tri-state area will eat cheese for one week until the game."

"We're going to Lambeau, to the fabled grounds of Lambeau Field. We're gonna take it home baby. Let's go Blue!" shouted another fan.

Kickoff next Sunday is at 4:30 p.m. in Green Bay. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
