Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I'll Have Another was scratched from the race Friday because of a swollen tendon in his left front leg.

The horse was a 4 to 5 favorite after taking the first two legs of the Triple Crown.

But once a veterinarian confirmed the injury, the horse's owner and trainer decided not to take any chances.

"He's done so much that it was unanimous between the Reddams and my brother and I and everyone at the barn to retire him," said trainer Doug O'Neill. "It is a bummer but again far from tragic."

I'll Have Another was originally scheduled to lead the post parade for the Belmont Stakes, but the New York Racing Association announced Saturday morning that a retirement ceremony will instead be held in the Belmont winner's circle.

If he had won Saturday, he would have been the first horse to take the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.

If you're heading to Belmont Park, there are a few things you should know.

General admission tickets are $10, while clubhouse admission costs $20.

The first race is scheduled for 11:35 a.m.

The Belmont Stakes is the 11th of the 13 scheduled races. Post time is 6:40 p.m.

The Long Island Railroad is providing extra train service to Belmont but round trip tickets will not be sold on board the trains.
