NY1 VIDEO: It was a trial that both captivated and divided New Yorkers as well as people around country. But when the verdict in the OJ Simpson trial was announced - there were no smartphones to check and no social media to visit. Instead, New Yorkers flocked to anywhere they could find a television. As we take a look back at 20 years of NY1, the station revisit's Kristen Shaughnessy's report from October 3, 1995, as New Yorkers reacted to the news.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: More than a decade later, Simpson would be convicted of kidnapping and armed robbery following a 2007 encounter with sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel. He's serving a nine to 33 year prison sentence. His most recent appeal was denied.
