NY1 VIDEO: In August of 1993, a scandal rocked one of the roughest precincts in the city, the 73rd in Brooklyn. There, a group of officers who called themselves the "Morgue Boys" allegedly made corruption routine, ripping off those they were supposed to be policing and splitting up the spoils in a former coffin factory. NY1's Jonathan Dienst filed the following report in August of 1993.

NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Though more than a dozen officers in the 73rd Precinct were investigated as part of the Morgue Boys scandal, only three were charged with crimes ranging from robbery to civil rights violations. In 1995, all three were acquitted of all charges in two separate federal trials.
