NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 revisits its 20-year history, the station looks back at reporter Russell Sherman's July 13, 1998 coverage as the final legal chapter in the Tawana Brawley case closed when three of Brawley's advisors were found guilty of defaming former Assistant District Attorney Steven Pagones.

NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Later that same month, Pagones was awarded $345,000 in total damages stemming from the guilty verdicts. Reverend Al Sharpton was found liable for $65,000, Alton Maddox for $95,000, and C. Vernon Mason was ordered to pay $185,000.
