NY1 VIDEO: As NY1 revisits its 20-year history, the station looks back at reporter Kristen Shaughnessy's July 10, 2006 coverage of a violent explosion that rocked the Upper East Side and completely demolished a four-story townhouse.
NY1 FOLLOW-UP: Dr. Nicholas Bartha later died from injuries suffered in the blast. Investigators determined he had deliberately opened the building's gas lines to trigger the explosion. Bartha had been involved in a bitter divorce battle when he killed himself, and had sent his wife a threatening 14-page manifesto hours before the blast.
