Fashion Week 2012: Pamella Roland Chills Out As Tracy Reese Warms Up

Citrus hues and winter whites sashayed down the runway at the Tracy Reese and Pamella Roland shows. NY1's Michelle Park filed the following report.It was ski season under the tents at Lincoln Center at the Pamella Roland show.
"The inspiration is Aspen Colorado so we started off with what would you wear in Aspen?" said Roland.
The runway was adorned with snowy tree branches as coyote fur overcoats, hoods and cuffs swished down the runway. But as the day on the slopes turned to evening, the collection sparkled with beaded bodices that looked covered in ice and shimmering tulle perfect for the snow bunny out on the town.
"I feel this collection is probably one of our best. It was fun doing it because I really know Aspen and love Aspen," said Roland.
There were front row and backstage celebs in the mix, including TV personality Maria Menounos who tried her hand at modeling.
Fellow designer Zang Toi says this is one show he never misses.
"Pamella is one of my closest friends, so I always make big, big effort to come and support her. I usually don't like to go out much, but I make a very big effort," said Toi.
From effortless elegance to funky art deco, it was a colorful coterie for designer Tracy Reese this season.
"There's several shades of orange actually, it's a color I'm super excited about. There's also a lemony yellow, it's very citrusy, a little bit different for winter but it gives the whole palette a lift," explained Reese.
As displayed on the backdrop on the runway, the designer was inspired by different interior design elements.
Blouses wallpapered with florals and coats upholstered with blocky prints gave the boisterous designs some extra pizzazz.
"The way that interior designers play with textiles and they also play with hardware. And all of these elements together can make a really rich mix and I wanted to incorporate that into the clothing," said Reese.
"Every season I come to Tracy Reese and I'm always blown away. I love the details, I love the trousers, the colors," said Model Selita Ebanks.
Whether you are the outdoor mountain girl or the home-body who loves her decor, furs, colors and mixed textures will be what's hot or cold come fall.
