Some young women recently got their feet wet to see what is in the water off Coney Island.
Twenty-five middle school girls went out to gather water samples and more from under the waves as part of the City Parks Foundation’s Green Girls Summer Institute.
They were testing the cleanliness of the water and checking on other aquatic life, to learn more about environmental issues.
The Green Girls program is supported by Connect A Million Minds, an initiative from NY1's parent company Time Warner Cable.
