New York is number one for traveling on two wheels.

Bicycling magazine is awarding the city its top honor.

The award comes as the Department of Transportation releases a report on the performance of protected bike paths and considers expanding cycling infrastructure.

New York moved to first place from seventh in just two years.

The magazine's editor-in-chief says since that 2012 ranking, the city's cycling landscape has transformed.

The city now has more than 350 miles of bike lanes. ClientIP:, UserAgent: CCBot/2.0 ( Profile: TWCSAMLSP
