The popular social media site Twitter made a splash during its first day of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
In the most anticipated Initial Public Offering since Facebook, stock of the micro-blogging site ended its first day of trading at around $45 a share.
The projected opening price for the IPO had been $26.
It's trading on the ticker handle TWTR.
The company now has a projected value of around $30 billion.
"There's a lot of excitement," said Jonathan Corpina of Meridian Equity Partners. "You can hear the room as things start to get louder and louder. There's a lot of media and press down here, so that adds to the bodies and the energy that's here."
Actor Sir Patrick Stewart rang the opening bell.
