A vermin infestation is plaguing one housing tenant in Harlem and he says the city housing authority is not stepping in to squash the problem. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following "NY1 For You" report.

Keeping the apartment clean is a monumental task for William Hood who has flies and maggots lying all over his floors.

"Sickening, terrible, disgusting," he says.

That's how the housing tenant describes the flea and maggot infestation in his apartment at Harlem River Houses.

"It's bad, it's bad because you try to prepare your food or you leave a drink, ya know it's a fly could be on there," says Hood.

Hood has had to live with the vermin for seven months now, charging that every time he files a complaint, housing sends an exterminator who lays traps but never gets to the root of the problem.

"No one should have to live like this," says Hood.

The station contacted NYCHA and they said they are looking into the situation.

NY1 will continue to follow this story.
