A ticket trap left one Bronx driver eager to set the record straight, so she turned to NY1 For You and got help. NY1's Susan Jhun filed the following report.
A troubling ticket left Mareliz Peralta confused and angry.
"They kept on telling us that there was a meter on this side and we were not allowed to park unless we put the money in the meter, but it's crazy because there's never been any meter."
There were no signs indicating meter parking, according to Peralta, just alternate side parking signs on this stretch of street in The Bronx.
Still, as we told you two weeks ago, the driver received a parking ticket for not displaying a muni meter receipt. Peralta took pictures to provide the spot was alternate side parking. Then a few days later, Peralta says the street signs were changed to "no parking."
"They probably could have waited till they changed the sign and then give citations to people, but not before. It was unnecessary," Peralta says.
At the time, we called the police to ask them about the confusing situation and after looking into the matter, an NYPD spokesman admitted the summons was written in error and said the issuing officer is being retrained and instructed.
Now Peralta says the ticket has been dismissed and she's happy she fought for what's right.
