With only days to go until the official start of winter, one condo association in Brooklyn, like many other New Yorkers, are still waiting for new boilers and hot water. NY1's Susan Jhun has the story.
Doreen Robinson's condo has been without heat and hot water for a month and a half, ever since Hurricane Sandy completely flooded her basement unit.
"I haven't slept more than one hour per night," Robinson said. "It's very, very hard."
Robinson, who had no flood insurance, gutted and rebuilt her condo at her own expense.
"It was devastating," she said. "I lost everything."
But Robinson, who still needs heat and hot water, says her condo board is going back on its promise to replace all the boilers and hot water heaters.
"[The landlord] told me 'Call Rapid Repairs, they giving out boilers and hot water tanks,'" Robinson said.
Robinson did call the city's free emergency repair program for residential property owners affected by Hurricane Sandy, but hasn't heard back.
We called the president for the Brookclub Condo Association and he says the delay is with the board's insurance company. He went on to say the board tried to file a claim as an association for help from the city but was told individual units must file their own claims with Rapid Repairs.
Whether those claims will be served remains to be seen.
In the meantime, Robinson simply wants to return home.
"I want to move back in my apartment," she said. "I'm still paying a mortgage here and I'm paying rent some place else. So I want to move home."
