Mayor Bill de Blasio responded Friday to Vice President Joe Biden's remarks about LaGuardia Airport.

A day after Biden likened the airport to "some third-world country,'' de Blasio called the comments "not his finest moment."

"I think his comments were inappropriate," de Blasio said. "LaGuardia obviously needs an upgrade, but that being said, the airport manages an extraordinary amount of traffic, and the people who work there make it work under very difficult circumstances. So as a proud New Yorker, I didn't like that comment, and I think it was not the right way to talk about it."

Biden made the LaGuardia remark in Philadelphia, where he was stressing the need for infrastructure improvements across the country.
