A former Port Authority official who resigned after the George Washington Bridge scandal says that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie knew about the lane closures as they were happening.
David Wildstein's lawyer released a letter saying that his client "contests the accuracy of various statements that the governor made about him and he can prove the inaccuracy of some."
Christie gave a news conference earlier this month in which he denied knowledge of politically motivated lane closings on the George Washington Bridge that caused massive traffic jams, but Wildstein's lawyer said that evidence suggests otherwise.
In a statement released Friday, Christie denied Wildstein's claims and maintained that he only learned of the political motivations earlier this month.
Later Friday, Christie didn't take any questions while stopping by Howard Stern's birthday party at Manhattan's Hammerstein Ballroom.
