A federal judge has thrown out Rep. Charles Rangel's attempt to overturn a House censure.
In 2010, the House issued Rangel a formal reprimand, called a censure, for a series of financial wrongdoings, like failing to disclose income.
In April, Rangel fired back with a lawsuit against the House ethics committee.
He claimed that its members hid evidence showing there was misconduct in the investigation against him.
District Court Judge John D. Bates dismissed that lawsuit Wednesday, saying that separation of powers prevents him from taking action against the House.
