One of the first things Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has to do after his inauguration is present a preliminary budget, but it looks like he’ll get a little more time to pull his proposal together.
A source tells NY1 the City Council is preparing to introduce a budget extension that will give de Blasio until February 12.
Without an extension, he would have had to announce his plans by January 16, as the City Charter requires.
Mayor Bloomberg received similar extensions in the past.
De Blasio has not yet named a budget director for his administration.
