Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has chosen an inauguration committee that he hopes reflects the city's diversity.
More than 70 distinguished New Yorkers from across the five boroughs will kick off de Blasio's first term in office this January.
De Blasio has described the celebration as "an inauguration for all New Yorkers."
Stars such as legendary singer Harry Belafonte and actors Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon and Steve Buscemi are on de Blasio's list.
Representing the business world are entrepreneur Russell Simmons, philanthropist Lorna Brett Howard and a host of local business owners and CEOs.
On the political spectrum, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education Diane Ravitch and Nassau County Democrat Jay Jacobs are among the notable names.
The inauguration is set for January 1.
