Former Bronx Assemblyman Nelson Castro pleaded guilty Tuesday to making false statements to federal officials.
Prosecutors say Castro lied about giving an interview to the media in May and revealing his cooperation in a corruption case.
Castro's lawyer said his client takes full responsibility for the false statements.
He said that Castro's plea agreement also requires him to plead guilty to charges pending against him in the Bronx.
The Democrat resigned from the Assembly earlier this year after revealing he taped conversations with colleagues.
He will be sentenced next year.
