Helen Thomas, the former dean of the White House press corps, has died.

Thomas covered 10 presidents dating back to John F. Kennedy, mostly for United Press International and then for Hearst.

Late in her career, Thomas got to sit front and center at news conferences because of her tenure.

She was a pioneering woman in journalism. She was the first woman to join the White House Correspondents' Association, and the first to serve as its president.

Her time as a reporter came to an abrupt end a few years ago when remarks she made saying Jews should get out of Palestine were caught on camera.

Helen Thomas was 92.
