City officials say the tourism industry has seen record-breaking growth since it changed its business model in 2006.

According to a new report from NYC & Company, New York City has seen an unprecedented 52 million visitors in the last seven years.

During this time, tourism officials say nearly 80,000 new leisure and hospitality jobs were created, and the city saw $55 billion in revenue.

Officials say shifting to a public-private marketing model, which included the merger of NYC & Company, NYC Big Events and NYC Marketing, as well as targeting international visitors and promoting tourist activities across all boroughs helped contribute to the spike.
