The governor's office is expanding the sections in state parks where people can no longer smoke.
They will now include picnic shelters, athletic facilities, and certain beaches and boardwalks.
All city parks are already smoke-free.
Governor Andrew Cuomo said the expansion is an important step in creating a smoke-free environment across the state.
Historic sites will also have expanded smoke-free areas, and violators face a fine up to $250.
