The FBI arrested a Mississippi man and charged him with sending potentially lethal letters to President Barack Obama and others, just days after another man was released from jail in the same case.

FBI officials say Everett Dutschke, 41, was arrested at his home in Tupelo, Miss.

The ricin-laced letters were sent last week to Obama, Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker and a local judge. They were intercepted at a mail screening facility in Maryland.

Police searched Dutschke's home on Thursday, after charges initially filed against another man, Paul Kevin Curtis, were dropped.

Officials say Dutschke has ties to the initial suspect, the judge and the senator.
