An upstate man is under arrest for allegedly making death threats to Rep. Carolyn Maloney.

Officials said Ronald Buchanan of Elmira called Maloney's office multiple times because of her push for tough gun laws.

Buchanan is charged with aggravated harassment and menacing.

He's being held on $20,000 bail.

Maloney said that she's more resolved than ever to pass stronger gun laws, even after the arrest.

She said she took the threats seriously, especially after recent attacks against other elected officials, including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
