A new report from the city Department of Investigation accuses the city Board Of Elections of wasting millions of dollars during the 2011 elections.

The report says $2.4 million could have been saved if officials consolidated half of the election districts and cut the number of election inspectors in half.

The 2011 elections featured no citywide contests, but did include races for district attorney and several judicial races.

The report says at least a dozen polling sites had more poll workers than actual voters.

A Board Of Elections spokeswoman had no comment about the report.
