Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Thursday that those who lost their jobs or income due to Hurricane Sandy can apply for federal disaster unemployment assistance until February 28.

The deadline was originally February 4.

Assistance is available to anyone who lives or works in the city, Long Island or several upstate counties.

The aid also extends to the self-employed, such as small business owners, vendors or fisherman.

To apply for the assistance, call 888-209-8124.
