A generous grant has helped Coney Island Hospital restart a popular federal nutrition assistance program forced to close due to Hurricane Sandy.

The $50,000 is directed towards getting a temporary office up and running for the low-income Women, Infants, and Children assistance program.

Five thousand participants have been affected since Hurricane Sandy forced two program offices to close.

The entire hospital was hit hard by the storm.

The new temporary offices are at the Luna Park Senior Center on West 12th Street in Brooklyn.

The office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
