Some lucky Manhattan residents will get an up-close view as President Barack Obama is sworn in to a second term.
About two dozen people won tickets to the inauguration ceremony as part of a lottery held by Rep. Carolyn Maloney's office.
Ticket holders will have reserved seats near the platform where the president will recite the oath of office.
Some winners told NY1 they were involved in the president's re-election campaign and are excited to see the ceremony for themselves.
"Today is my birthday, so it's my birthday weekend," said Ashley Williams, who won inauguration tickets. "And having it on Martin Luther King Day just means the world to me, being bi-racial like the president as well. It's just such a historic day."
"Very excited," said Adam Perlmutter, who won inauguration tickets. "Looking forward to it. It's going to be great to see an historic occasion and to share it with my son."
At one point, inauguration tickets were being resold for nearly $2,000 on sites like eBay and Craigslist.
Those sites have agreed to stop the resales.
The ceremony itself is open and free to the public.
